Christine, this will undoubtedly be my favorite paragraph of the day:

"Like if I robbed a bank and the teller were describing me to the police, she’d say, “The assailant was an older woman wearing sensible shoes and a cardigan from Talbots with a tissue tucked into the sleeve. She needed reading glasses to count all the money and at first she couldn’t remember where she put her handgun and then she realized she was holding it right there in her hand.”

Thanks so much for it!

I am decided that from now on I'm just going to "act my age," and acting my age very likely involves tissues tucked into my sleeve :-)

Thank you for putting into words what so many of us feel about this chapter of life. For the record, you are incredible, beautiful, and funny –all my laugh lines agree.

I would not trade laugh lines for all the Botox in the world :-) And feel exactly the same way about you, my beautiful friend :-) Here's to being ladies of a certain age :-)

Oh, how I love this post! That paragraph about robbing a bank is priceless. And, you stole my thoughts about the whole aging thing. It’s shocking to be here—I still think of myself as young but the people at church are starting to call me “Miss Tracey.” What’s with that? 😂

Yes, please!

I hear you!!! It's like the shock of hearing yourself addressed as ma'am instead of miss. When mentally, I'm still very much a miss :-) Putting your name into The Hat btw!!!

Ha this is a great way to express what we are all thinking! And FYI I have similar gut issues and worked with a functional MD on the gut stuff then she allowed me to try a teeny bit of compounded trizepetide. I feel less inflamed, so I consider that a win! 🫠 carry on my beautiful friend!

Thank you for this!!!! And it's all a win at this point :-) I try to remain grateful that the buttercream frosting is, at least, gluten free :-)

You are truly lovely inside and out, and not a single thing else is needed. ✨ But I do appreciate your vulnerability and can relate!

In my next time I am coming back as a man. Or as my dog, who is utterly adorable, eats anything she wants, sleeps all day and never gains a pound :-)

Yes please!

Christine I totally relate to this post and love, as always, the way you write about it. The struggle is real! But as you see in your friends and loved ones, you too are truly beautiful inside and out, not to mention so talented, funny and wise, just like your books!

So grateful for all the beautiful women in our local women's fiction writer's group who are not just beautiful, but hilariously funny. Funny beats no wrinkles any day :-)
